School Tours and Trips

 

Down the years Coola School has been to the forefront in providing as broad-based an education as possible for its students. Towards this end its students have partaken in many educational tours, both inside Ireland and overseas.

Science Trips

Each year Science students partake in educational trips. During the 2016-2017 school year, 1st years visited Dublin Zoo where they participated in a conservation module; 2nd years attended the BT young Scientist Exhibition; 3rd year students had the opportunity to visit the W5 Interactive Discovery Centre in Belfast; while TY students attended the Planetarium in Armagh. In addition to this, 5th and 6th Year Agricultural Science students had a trip to the National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore.

Music Trips

Our 5th and 6th year music students went on an educational tour to Vienna in 2008 and this trip included visits to the Hofburg Palace, the Mozart Haus and St Stephen’s Cathedral.

French Trips

5th Year French students usually travel to Paris each year.

TY Trips

Each year Transition Year students go on a ski tour to Andalo, Italy. Students have the opportunity to ski, experience Italian food and culture. They will travel to Italy again in 2018.

In October 2012 our TY’s went to New York on a nine day tour. They visited Thornton Donovan College, attended lessons there, made friends with American students, stayed with their families and had an unforgettable educational experience.

Croagh Patrick Climb

Each year Transition Year, 5th Year and LCA students climb Croagh Patrick to raise money for North West Hospice. In 2017 our students raised over €2700 for the hospice.
